You can now access your Chronic Illness Benefit

If you joined BEMAS in April last year, your 12-month waiting period is now complete. This means you can now access the Chronic Illness Benefit (CIB).

The benefit provides cover for approved treatment and medicine for long-term conditions, including chronic diseases, HIV and AIDS.

What is covered?

• Approved chronic medicine
• Consultations, tests and ongoing care
• Cover in line with Prescribed Minimum Benefits

Medicine is paid in full up to the Society Rate if it is on the approved list. If not, a monthly limit applies.

How to apply

1. Visit www.bemas.co.za
2. Go to Find a document
3. Download and complete the CIB application form with your doctor
4. Submit for review

Remember

• Ask your doctor to include ICD-10 codes on claims
• Let us know if your treatment changes
• New conditions require a new application
